ANOTHER FANTASTIC GUIDED TOUR...2

 

Seguimos viagem para a freguesia de Vale de Nogueiras, onde fica o Santuário rupestre galaico-romano de Panóias, único no mundo. É assim considerado por dois aspetos: primeiro porque não se encontra no centro da cidade como o de Braga e tantos outros, e por "contar a sua história", ou seja, nas pedras podem ver-se e ler-se inscrições que nos indicam como funcionava o santuário. 

 

Tudo começa no centro interpretativo, construído nas fragas, por isso, o santuário também já foi denominado "Fragas de Panóias", onde um filme sucinto nos conta como tudo se passava na era de Gaius Calpurnius Rufinus, finais do séc. II e inícios do séc. III.

 

 

We traveled to the village of Walnut Valley, home to the cave shrine Galician-Roman Panóias, unique in the world. O Santuário é constituído por três fragas principais, onde se pensa terem existido templos de sacrifício. O objetivo deste local era o de permitir às pessoas a iniciação na religião, neste caso na adoração ao deus Serápis, deus dos infernos e aos deuses severos, por isso, se sacrificavam animais e se colocava a carne nas fendas quadradas (que se podem ver nas fotos abaixo), e as fendas redondas serviam para verter o sangue e alimentar os deuses.

 

The Sanctuary consists of three main crags, where it is thought to have existed sacrifice temples. The goal of this site was to allow people the initiation in religion, in this case the worship of the god Serapis, god of the underworld and the harsh gods, so animals were sacrificed and put the meat in the square slots (which can be seen the photos below), and the round slots served to shed blood and to feed the gods.

 

 

Um pouco mórbido, mas é a nossa história, e o que ela reza é que este tipo de iniciações eram sempre motivo de festa, e que todo este ritual era um divertido e feliz convívio entre a população.
